Town Opens Nominations for Ambassador of Action Business Award and Award of Creative Excellence

Nominations are now open for this year’s Ambassador of Action Business Award and the Award of Creative Excellence. Each year, the Town recognizes leaders within the community by selecting local businesses, organizations, and individuals who exemplify the award criteria.

The annual Ambassador of Action Business Award is presented to a local business that has demonstrated notable growth and is actively supporting the community. Eligible nominees are required to hold a valid Town of Stony Plain business license and have made an investment in their facility, created new jobs, or offered new or enhanced products or services in the last year.

“Local businesses drive Stony Plain. We are incredibly proud of the passion and determination our local business owners demonstrate – even in the face of a global health pandemic,” says Economic Development Officer Shawn McCauley. “Nominating a local business for the Ambassador of Action Business Award is an opportunity for residents to recognize the businesses that continue to shape Stony Plain.”

The Town celebrates creative leaders with the Award of Creative Excellence. The annual award recognizes businesses, organizations, non-profits, or individuals that demonstrate a commitment to elevating Stony Plain’s creative community and growing culture and tourism. Eligible nominees should provide opportunities for public engagement, encourage an inclusive environment for public participation in the arts, contribute to growing local tourism, promote economic stability for the creative industry, and demonstrate excellence in their field.

“The Award of Creative Excellence showcases the incredible creative talent we have here in town. Not only does it celebrate our local creators, but it also provides an opportunity for creative leaders to gain exposure within the community,” says Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge.

“Stony Plain is home to such a rich pool of creative talent and entrepreneurs and local business and creativity are at the heart of our community. The annual awards are a chance for Stony Plain to recognize and celebrate local leaders who have shown incredible dedication to their craft and our community,” says Mayor William Choy.
