Beginning June 4, resident businesses will be able to apply online to receive recognition for a business milestone. Applications will be accepted until July 31, 2021.
In the past, business milestones have been identified by the Town through the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Biannual Luncheon. Due to current restrictions, in-person events are not possible. To ensure business owners are able to receive recognition for milestones, the Town is launching an online application service.
The Town recognizes business milestones of five-year increments. To be eligible for a business milestone, a business must:
Additionally, businesses must have maintained their business license uninterrupted for the complete duration of their operation.
“We’re definitely missing the chance to celebrate in person, but we’re excited to be able to safely offer businesses the chance to receive a milestone and commemorate their commitment to their business and Stony Plain,” says Economic Development Officer Shawn McCauley.
The Town would like to recognize every business’s successes; however, milestones are subject to budget availability. This year, plaques will be reserved for businesses celebrating the most senior milestones. If plaques become unavailable, businesses will receive a celebratory certificate signed by Mayor William Choy.
“This past year has been especially challenging for our business community. Our local business owners have worked incredibly hard to support themselves and their community in the face of a global health pandemic,” says Mayor William Choy. “Business milestones are an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication our local business owners display year after year.”
Eligible businesses celebrating a milestone of five-year increments can apply online to receive recognition until July 31. Businesses who were unable to receive recognition for a milestone in 2020 are also eligible.
