Stony Plain’s recreational opportunities span across a plethora of options, including a full-service arena for senior, junior, and minor hockey teams, a public golf course, outdoor swimming pool, curling rink, baseball and softball diamonds, skate and BMX parks, sports fields, and tennis courts, among others. The community also boasts two busy farmers’ markets.
Stony Plain maintains more than 24 kilometres of trails, which are used by pedestrians for walking, jogging, or bicycling. The community’s public golf course is a CPGA 18-hole championship golf course, which is transformed into cross-country ski trails in the off-season.
The Transalta Tri Leisure Centre is a multiplex recreational facility, which represents a strong partnership between the Town of Stony Plain, the City of Spruce Grove, and Parkland County. It features two NHL-sized arenas, two soccer pitches, full fitness centre, aquatic centre (with waterslide and a 25 metre, 10-lane pool), food and beverage outlets, meeting facilities, children’s play area, and a full-court gymnasium.
