Meridian Veterinary Clinic Wins Ambassador of Action Business Award

Stony Plain, AB: Meridian Veterinary Clinic was honoured with the ninth annual Ambassador of Action Business Award during the Stony Plain and District Chamber of Commerce’s Awards Night. This is the second year in a row the clinic has been nominated for the award.

Introduced in 2009, the Ambassador of Action Business Award is presented to a local business that has demonstrated exemplary growth through improvement and expansion, as well as made significant contributions to the community by offering new or enhanced products or services and creating new jobs.

Meridian Veterinary Clinic is co-owned and operated by husband-and-wife duos Dr. Rob and Dr. Vanessa Kyle and Dr. Mike and Steph DeVries. The clinic opened its first location in Spruce Grove in August of 2013. The decision to expand to a second location was made in 2015 after Stony Plain was identified as a growing community with great business potential.

The Stony Plain clinic opened its doors in April of 2016. Significant investments were made to the old grainery building to transform the space into a high-end veterinary clinic. Today, Meridian Veterinary Clinic is the only in Stony Plain to offer both large and small animal care. The clinic added four new jobs in 2017, followed by another three in 2018.

“Pets are an extension of our families and, as such, truly are residents of Stony Plain,” says Mayor William Choy. “Meridian Veterinary Clinic goes above and beyond to offer those four-legged residents — and their owners — top-notch service and health care expertise. The hard work and dedication of the Kyles and DeVries, as well as their team, certainly deserves our recognition and respect.”

“Meridian Veterinary Clinic demonstrates excellence in all criteria we consider when selecting the Ambassador of Action Business Award winner,” says Economic Development Officer Shawn McCauley. “Their business savvy and entrepreneurial spirit is competitive and cutting edge, which allows the clinic to continuously grow and expand their services in order to meet the needs of our thriving community.”

Along with Meridian Veterinary Clinic, the semi-finalists for the 2018 Ambassador of Action Business Award were Boost Physical Therapy and Whimsical Vintage Creations. The Town of Stony Plain thanks the community for their nominations, and congratulates the semi-finalists and all nine nominees.
